Postpartum care is truly an extension of self care. It can be such a challenging and overwhelming time for a mama who has not only just given birth to her baby, but has also been reborn through rite of passage into her new identity as a mother. In addition to finding the flow in juggling day-to-day tasks and caring for a tiny human, hurdles and doubts regarding breastfeeding, sleeping, and bonding can result in feeling drained, anxious, and uncertain. And how we feel can directly affect our babies. It is without doubt the greatest gift to have support to lift some of the weight common during this time, allowing you the freedom and sacred space to focus on tending the flame of connection and intimacy between you and your little one.
Every woman is unique, and my offerings reflect this. In general, I enjoy preparing nourishing soups, broths, herbal teas, and aguas frescas, and offering support however that looks for you. Care is tailored to your specific needs and desires. Sometimes this can be as simple as listening to you process your birth experience and transition from maidenhood into motherhood. Other times it can be helping with household chores, running errands, or researching outside support and making referrals during the first forty days traditionally designated for mother and baby bonding. Mostly, it is simply witnessing you in your process.
